HURRICANE IDA UPDATE:

Hello, wonderful community, brothers and sisters. I pray things are getting a little better for you each day!

We have had many requests on how you can help, asking what we need.

The first thing we did was to make sure food immediately made it out to families in need by stocking ministries who have cooked nonstop for the community.

That means our shelves were empty and we are now working to refill them. If you, your church, business, or folks from afar wish to donate food and water, we will have canvas carts out front at 9am. If you have large donations, please coordinate with Paul at foodbank@samcen.org or (985)626-4457.

We have resumed serving families and distribute food by appointment on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

We are in need of all canned foods, especially green beans, corn, peas, spinach, and beans. We also need dry beans (1 lb. bags), rice (1 or 2 lb. bags), peanut butter and jelly!

A detailed list of needs can be printed here.

Thank you so much. Please help spread the word!

The Samaritan Center is a Christian organization offering emergency assistance with food for those in our community who are in need.

Limited assistance for utilities, rent/mortgage, transportation, & medicines may be provided in some circumstances.

It is our hope that with God’s grace we may be able to assist those people in need on their path back to self-sufficiency.

The Samaritan Center is in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank which serves  South Louisiana, who is a member of Feeding America.
